Hearing Aids Reviews and Information

A person’s sense of hearing allows him to perceive the loudness, the pitch of the sound as well as to localize where it is coming from.  The organ responsible for the sense of hearing is the ear.  The outer part of the ear gathers sound which passes down the ear canal until it reaches the eardrum.  The wave is converted is converted into a pattern vibration by the eardrum and the middle ear systems.  This vibration then is transferred to the inner ear (cochlea) where it causes a pressure wave in the cochlear fluid. The same pressure wave sets a membrane in the cochlea in motion.  The motion is detected by the hair cells fluid in the membrane which causes activity in the fibers of the hearing nerve or the auditory.  The brain then interprets the nerve activity as sound.

We have two ears which are independent listening points.  This allows the nerve pathways in the brain to compare and contrast the signal from both sides.  This is the reason why we can easily hear in a noisy environment and help us to determine which direction the sound comes from.

When a part or parts of your ear encounter a problem, a hearing impairment or loss is happening in you. A problem that occurs in the outer or middle ear including the ear canal and eardrum is called a conductive hearing loss. When the damage occurs in the inner ear (cochlea) or the auditory nerve the hearing loss is called sensorineural.  Hearing loss can be congenital or acquired.  Acquired hearing loss occurs later in life.  It can happen during childhood, teen years or adulthood depending on your lifestyle

Conductive hearing loss can be corrected with medications or surgery while the sensorineural hearing loss can be treated with hearing aids.
Hearing aids are electroacoustic apparatuses which are worn by people with hearing loss in or behind their ears.  They are designed to amplify and modulate .the sound to the users.  Hearing aids make sounds louder.  It consists of a microphone, an amplifier and a receiver that boosts sound in the ear. These hearing aids come in different forms or types.

A classic or analog type of hearings aids are the conventional types.  These are least expensive hearing aids because they are least flexible.  Another type of hearing aids is the digitally programmed.  These hearing aids are programmed to match the hearing impairment of a person through a computer.  The processing of the sound in these hearing aids are processed similar to the analogs but is controlled through a computer.  These kinds also offer a more sophisticated sound processing.  Digital hearing aids are those that processed sound digitally.  In these hearing aids, the sound is converted into digital bits.  They have special circuitry that makes sounds sound better to the wearers.   These hearing aids are much better than the analogs and digital programmed hearing aids because these hearing aids have more special features that are very helpful in listening both in a quiet and noisy environments.
If you are a person with a hearing loss you can make your choice freely as to what kind of hearing aids you will acquire but do not forget to ask the assistance of your hearing specialist. Be sure to ready hearing aids reviews and information first!
